Overview
There is plenty of scholarship showing that the more we pursue “happiness,” the more fleeting it seems to be. Joy is a deeper concept – one that can withstand the ups and downs of life. The joy that Jesus offers in this passage is difficult to describe, and in fact seems almost too good to be true. Yet it will be far deeper and more valuable than happiness, and we can begin to experience it now.
