Paul’s message highlights the importance of personal spiritual development and unity in the church community. This unity helps us stand against false teachings and live out God’s plan. He shifts from talking about the church as a whole to individual growth. He challenges each believer to reach their God-given potential. The end goal is for every Christian to become a strong pillar of faith, living a life that pleases God and stands strong against temptation.
1. The reason the growth is necessary is that we might become the body.
Unity among Christians, encouraged by the Spirit, points to the crucial role of community and church in showing God’s wisdom through relationships. We grow spiritually because we want to be part of a community that surprises the world with God’s wisdom. The journey from spiritual immaturity to maturity needs humility and a readiness to learn. Our ultimate goal is to be more like Jesus, achieving unity in our faith, knowledge of God’s Son, and spiritual maturity.
