This prayer reminds us what to do when we’re suffering. Instead of allowing our hearts to be dominated by fears of what will happen to us, we should seek the Lord, focusing on him and his glory. As we experientially glory in the Lord, fearing him rather than our troubles, we taste and see he is good and that we lack no good thing. We know he is not distant, but close to the brokenhearted, that his eyes and ears are attentive to us. We trust he will rescue his servants because he himself became the servant who suffered that we might find our refuge in him.
