Matthew 6:25–34

Jesus teaches us a lot about anxiety and how to deal with it. He shows us that by focusing on God’s kingdom and living right, we can overcome our worries. The key is to trust that God will take care of us and to live in the moment, rather than worrying about the future.

1. What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a common problem in modern life. It makes us feel like something bad is about to happen, even if we’re not sure what. It causes stress and can make us feel lost. If we’re always anxious, it can even make us sick. Jesus explained that anxiety comes from trying to control things we can’t control, like what will happen in the future.

2. If that’s what it is, where does it come from?

According to Jesus, anxiety comes from our desire to be powerful like God. We were meant to take care of the earth, but sometimes we go too far and try to control things we can’t. This rebellion against God’s authority is what got us into trouble in the first place. Trying to control everything only makes us worry more, showing us that we really need to depend on God.

3. What do we do about it?

Jesus teaches us that anxiety comes from thinking wrong and not having our priorities straight. He tells us that everything happens according to God’s plan, but we also have a role to play with our choices. He advises us to focus on living for God and doing what’s right. By letting Christ be the most important part of our lives, we can get rid of anxiety and see things more clearly.
