Tim Keller | January 5, 2003
The people in Jesus’ day did expect a savior. They were looking for one who would restore their national sovereignty. But Jesus brings a salvation infinitely wider and deeper and more magnificent than anything anybody expected.
Jesus says, “I will save you.” But the dimensions and ramifications of that salvation have to be spelled out because they’re beyond what anybody can imagine. And the 3 incidents in Jesus’ life that we see in Luke 5, taken all together, show us how all-comprehensive, multidimensional, and full the salvation of Jesus is.
Jesus’ salvation completely transforms us psychologically, sociologically, and spiritually in every way. So let’s take a look at these three incidents to understand how Jesus’ salvation transforms 1) our relationship to ourselves, 2) our relationships with others, and 3) our relationship with God.
