In Luke 6:12-36, Jesus teaches us the importance of community. He tells us to love, bless, and pray for everyone, even those who hurt us. He paints a picture of a community that’s diverse and forgiving, one that is different from the world because it’s centered on Him. This section of scripture also shifts our understanding of tolerance and how we should react when wronged. It reminds us of the power of Jesus Christ, reinforcing the idea that our faith in Him binds us together, despite our shared imperfections.
