Overview

In the Northern Hemisphere, winter is the darkest time of year. That’s one of the reasons the church developed a festival called Epiphany the first week of January. Epiphany celebrates that Jesus Christ is the divine light come into a dark world.

Isaiah 60 offers a vision of the end time when God heals the world—when there’s no more war, no more suffering, no more death. It’s wonderful. And in the middle of this passage, there’s the theme of light.

We can see in this passage that 1) God is the light of the world, 2) you can be light of the world, 3) because Jesus was the light of the world.
