When we look at the story of sin and our purpose in life, we learn that doing wrong often makes us search for happiness in places that can’t really give it. It’s like we’re trying to fill a God-sized hole with things that are too small. This shows us why “summum bonum,” or the highest good, can’t be found in stuff around us, but only in God. This story teaches us about our life’s mission, how sin can mess it up, and why we need to depend on God to truly understand and fulfill our purpose.
