Advent Day 25: Joy

FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT – WEDNESDAY December 25, 2024

READ Psalm 98
The Lord will come again to the earth, but this time as Judge and King.

REFLECT
The arrival of a judge is usually considered to be a sobering affair. Justice and punishment will be handed out, sentences will be confirmed or commuted, and everyone will nervously wait to be judged and to hear their fate.

But this judge is greeted with shouts of joy, music and dance. Why the difference? Because all the evils of the world will be put right, and the penalty once hanging over us has been taken by Jesus. His second coming will fill his body—the Church—with joy, as she is purified and made holy, and as all sorrow is ended.

PRAY
Pray that we would be generous to those in need this Advent season. Pray for opportunities to joyfully practice reconciliation and forgiveness because we know the joy that God has reconciled us to himself.
