Book of the Bible: Matthew 27

The Crucifixion

The Crucifixion

Matthew 27:45-56 records that on the cross Jesus cried out with the words of Psalm 22:1. What is it about this cry that even the most skeptical historians consider to be authentic? How else does Psalm 22 shed light on the cross? Why would an infinite, perfect being as the Son of God even consider putting himself in this position? The message covers the fact of his death (cry), the reason for his death (“why”), the accomplishment of his death (“my”), and the motive for his death.
