Advent Day 20: Love

THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT – FRIDAY December 22, 2023

READ Psalm 98
The Lord will come again to the earth, but this time as Judge and King.

REFLECT
The arrival of a judge is usually considered to be a sobering affair. Justice and punishment will be handed out, sentences confirmed or commuted, and everyone waiting to be judged sitting nervously waiting to hear their fate.

But this judge is greeted with shouts of joy, music and dance. Why the difference? Because all the evils of the world will be put right, and the penalty once hanging over us has been taken by Jesus. His Second Coming will fill his Body—the Church—with joy, as she is purified and made holy, and all sorrow is ended.

PRAY
Pray that we would be generous to those in need this Advent season. Pray for opportunities to practice reconciliation and forgiveness because God has reconciled us to himself.

If you would like to support the work of Gospel in Life, you can make a gift here.

In Shaped by the Gospel, Dr. Keller shows how gospel-centered ministry is more theologically driven than program-driven. As you read, you’ll discover how reflecting on the essence, the truths, and the patterns of the gospel leads to renewal in your lives, churches and ministries.
