Devotional
FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT – WEDNESDAY December 27, 2023
READ Revelation 5:1–14
John reveals the glory of the completed work of Christ—the exalted Lamb of God. He uses two special names to describe Jesus: the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Root of David.
REFLECT
It is always profitable to reflect on the many different names by which the Messiah is called. Here are three of them: Lamb of God, Lion of Judah, and Root of David. Rather than telling you why these are appropriate names or titles for Jesus, make a list of the aspects of character or ministry each one refers to.
PRAY
Jesus, you are the Father’s provision for our salvation, the sacrificial Lamb dying in our place. You are the Lion who defends his people from all attack, and you are the fulfillment of all the promises made to David for a descendent who would reign forever.

This Month's Featured Book
In Shaped by the Gospel, Dr. Keller shows how gospel-centered ministry is more theologically driven than program-driven. As you read, you’ll discover how reflecting on the essence, the truths, and the patterns of the gospel leads to renewal in your lives, churches and ministries.
