Overview

In this age of tolerance, many cannot accept the idea of final judgment and hell. Thus, it’s tempting to avoid such topics in our preaching.

But the loss of the doctrines of hell, judgment, and the holiness of God do irreparable damage to our deepest comforts – particularly our understanding of God’s grace and love, of human dignity and our value to him.

This article was originally published in Leadership Journal, and gives advice on how to preach hell in ways that can be understood today. It has been adapted and reprinted in the new book, Is Hell for Real or Does Everyone Go To Heaven?
