Understanding Romans 1:18–24

Not being thankful and ignoring the truth can lead to serious issues, even making God upset, as shown in Romans 1. Not being thankful is like saying we did everything ourselves and forgetting to thank God for His role. The solution to this problem is being thankful, which brings happiness and freedom.

1. Not being thankful can make us ignore the truth

Many people don’t like to admit that God is real and in control, they’d rather believe they can handle everything themselves. The world is complex and beautiful, suggesting that there is a God who made it all, yet some people would rather believe it all just happened randomly. Even though people often resist Him, God still loves us and wants a relationship with us through Jesus. But people often resist this message because they are not thankful.

2. Ignoring the truth can lead to confusion

When people reject the idea of a personal God, they end up confused and heartbroken, with no moral guidelines or purpose. This can be seen in the movie “Crimes and Misdemeanors,” where a man thinks about committing murder to save his image, showing that trying to be moral without religion doesn’t work. To avoid this confusion, we need to admit that we owe God for everything and stop ignoring the truth.

3. Confusion can lead to all sorts of problems

Not being thankful can lead to feeling sorry for ourselves, doing wrong things, and feeling trapped, but being thankful can break this cycle and bring happiness into our lives. Admitting that we need God and thank Him for everything is the key to being thankful, which can help us deal with worry, anger, and low self-esteem. For people who believe in God but haven’t fully accepted Jesus’s offer of salvation, surrendering to Him with a thankful heart can let His love and happiness change their lives.
