Matthew 26:36–46

When we look closely at what happened before Jesus was crucified, we see how much his death really means. In Gethsemane, Jesus prays while his friends fall asleep, teaching us to stay alert. This story makes us think deeply about how much Jesus suffered, what it means for our understanding of God, how serious God’s anger towards sin is, and how vital Jesus’ obedience was. In the end, it shows us the great love and sacrifice of Jesus, encouraging us to fully give our lives to God.
