The Spirit of truth will steer the disciples into all truth, unveiling future events, and offering a cure for humanity’s spiritual blindness, enabling transformative experiences.
1. A challenging reason; verses 7 — 11
The Holy Spirit plays a pivotal role in discipleship, enabling believers to fully comprehend the truth and identify their need for salvation. Despite witnessing miracles and listening to teachings, without the Holy Spirit, comprehension and belief remain elusive. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment, making these moral categories unavoidable realities, and it is only through its work that we can accept our need for a Savior, regardless of our backgrounds.
2. An excellent reason; verses 12 — 15
Jesus’ assurance of the Holy Spirit’s guidance guarantees the accurate relay of the Gospel, enabling believers to grasp and teach God’s Word, and transforming their beliefs and actions. The deep love of Jesus Christ, surpassing all earthly affections, inspires and sustains believers, urging them to prioritize His approval over worldly opinions. The Holy Spirit corrects misconceptions about righteousness, with Jesus as the advocate for believers before God, as manifested in the life-altering grasp of Christianity and God’s righteousness experienced by a man named Frank.
