“Who is this?” That question keeps coming up in the early chapters of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. As the wind and seas obey Jesus, and Jesus forgives sins, over and over this question is posed about him: “Who is this?”
Eventually, there’s a climactic place where the answer is given. That point is the transfiguration. It’s the climactic answer. And from that point on, Jesus turns to go toward Jerusalem to the cross.
To look at the transfiguration is one of the key ways you’re going to know 1) who Jesus is, 2) what he came to do, and 3) how to connect with him.
