Practical Grace; How the Gospel Transforms Character

Practical Grace; How the Gospel Transforms Character

Becoming a Christian implies becoming like Christ in character. But this radical change of nature is impossible to maintain by an act of sheer will, or by self-imposing moral restraint upon the fundamental drives of the heart it takes a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit that comes when one’s mind is rewired by the overwhelming love of God displayed in the gospel. This is ultimately good news for those of us who have “tried” to live consistently with our faith, but are painfully aware of our shortcomings.

Discover the deeper message in the parable of the Prodigal Son

In The Prodigal God, Tim Keller examines the way Jesus presents the parable to speak both to those who run from God and to those who try to earn his love by being good. It reveals the heart of the gospel—a message of hope for both the rebellious younger brother and the judgmental older brother, and an invitation for all to experience God’s grace.
