Paul teaches us to put on the full armor of God to stand strong against the tricks of evil. He reminds us that our real fight isn’t with people, but with unseen spiritual forces. This armor, which includes the belt of truth, the body armor of God’s righteousness, shoes of the peace that comes from the Good News, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (which is God’s Word), represents the blessings and freedoms that come with following Jesus. But to put on this armor, we need to change our attitudes and the way we think. Paul also emphasizes the importance of prayer, staying alert, understanding the nature of our spiritual battle, obeying God, and knowing the difference between simply obeying and truly agreeing with God.
