Hebrews 11:23–29

The story of Moses in Hebrews 11 is a powerful example of how we can keep going, even when things get tough. The Greek word “hypomeno,” which means “to stand strong against the tide,” captures this idea perfectly. By looking at Moses’ life, we can learn how to be strong in a world that often encourages us to give up easily.

1. What Moses went through

Moses faced four big challenges in his life. He decided to stand with God’s people even though it was hard, he was rejected by his own people and faced the anger of Pharaoh, he lived unknown for many years before God asked him to lead the Israelites to freedom, and then he had to face Pharaoh’s army at the Red Sea. Through all these tough times, Moses showed amazing strength and determination.

2. How Moses kept going

Being strong in our faith isn’t about just trying hard. It’s about what we really care about. Moses’ life shows us that he chose to care more about God’s promises than the things the world offers. How strong we are depends on what we love the most. What we love most shapes how strong we can be in our faith.
