Are you sleeping through Christmas? Do you know how many whooshes and booms have been read to you, and yet you’re just sort of feeling kind of mellow? Can you really hear what Christmas is saying?

The annunciation of the birth of Christ is a very famous passage. And that’s the great challenge of Christmas. The spiritual challenge of Christmas is to hear the life-shattering, life-changing, enormous truths that are within these familiar texts and phrases.

You can hear the claims of Christmas, of the doctrine of the incarnation, that God became flesh, because that claim 1) gets in your face intellectually, and then 2) gets in your heart transformationally.
