1 Samuel 1:4–11, 20; 2:1–10

The story of David begins with Hannah, a woman who couldn’t have children. Even though she was struggling, she never lost her faith in God. Hannah’s story teaches us about the power of faith, the importance of hope, and how God has a plan for us, even when we’re in pain.

1. Hannah’s struggle

Hannah was deeply sad because she couldn’t have children. In her society, this was a big deal—it was a big part of a woman’s worth. This kind of pressure isn’t just something people faced long ago, but something we all face today. The good news is, God’s love can help us see our true worth and find real happiness.

2. Hannah’s hope

Hannah was stuck between two hopes: having a family and feeling loved by her husband. Even though her husband loved her and told her to be happy with him, she still faced mean comments from her husband’s other wife. Hannah decided not to let society or her husband’s love define her. Instead, she turned to prayer for comfort and answers.

3. Hannah’s story

Hannah’s honest prayers show us how to relate to God. The Bible tells us to share our feelings with God, to recognize His greatness and kindness, and to trust in His plans. It also teaches us the importance of admitting when we’re wrong, knowing we can’t do everything on our own, and realizing that our struggles have a purpose. At the end of the day, the story reminds us that Jesus, our Savior, is the only true source of worth, beauty, and meaning.
