Tim Keller | December 19, 1993
When the angel told Joseph about Mary’s special pregnancy and mentioned the prophecy of Immanuel, which means “God with us,” it emphasized a unique idea in Christianity: Jesus is God, the creator, yet He came to earth as a human. This shows Christianity’s powerful message of inclusion, saying that what brings us close to God is not just being a good person or following moral rules, but actually believing in Jesus. This story helps us understand deeper about how we feel guilty and about God’s great sacrifice. It tells us that we don’t need to work hard to make up for our mistakes because Jesus, being God Himself, has already taken care of that.
