Tim Keller | May 1, 1994
The passage from Colossians 1:15-23 tells us that Jesus is the picture of God whom we can’t see with our physical eyes. This ties in with the second commandment, which talks about not making up our own ideas about God. It’s important not to push our own ideas or wants onto others, but instead, to honor God as He shows Himself to us. We shouldn’t try to make God fit into our wishes. The passage warns us about the risks of creating a false image of God. It encourages us to let our imagination be guided by truth and submit to God’s plan, allowing Him to shape our lives.
