Overview

Open Forums are specifically designed for skeptics or those wrestling with the claims of Christianity. Each Open Forum included a brief concert by guest artists followed by a talk and open mic Q&A with Timothy Keller. This audio recording includes the talk only.

1. Unrestricted freedom isn’t truly free

Real freedom is connected to God, despite some thinkers saying that not believing in God brings complete freedom. If we view ourselves as only physical beings, our thoughts and actions become fixed and predictable, erasing the idea of freedom. Also, without God’s moral guidelines, we can’t really decide what’s right or wrong on our own, making those decisions pointless. So, true freedom and the ability to stand up against wrongs can only come by accepting God’s truth.

2. Why unrestricted freedom isn’t truly free

True freedom and happiness come from putting others first, even if it means giving up what we want. Being really free isn’t about doing whatever we want, it’s about accepting the right boundaries and recognizing there’s a higher power. Deep down, we all long for a spiritual leader who can bring peace, perfection, and forgiveness, which is shown in our stories and myths.
