Overview

Through the summer we’re going to be looking at the life of David. As a congregation, we’ve visited the life of David before, but did you know there’s more information in the Bible about David, more texts about David, than any other figure except Jesus? What that means is two things.

First, it means there’s always more material we haven’t visited as a congregation we ought to look at. It also means if the Bible thinks David is that important, then we ought to be acquainted with him or we’re not going to understand what the Bible’s message is, what the Bible’s wisdom is.

Today we’re looking at an introductory chapter, a short but very famous story about a woman named Hannah. This is the introduction to the book, 1 Samuel, which is about David. We’re going to look at what happens to her under four headings: Hannah’s tears, Hannah’s turn, Hannah’s song, and then what we learn from all of this.

Is Your Identity in Your Achievements or in Christ?

In this booklet, Tim Keller looks at how one can become a gospel-humble person who is neither too self-condemning, nor too self-loving, but instead is transformed by the gospel to be a self-forgetful person, loving our neighbors like we love ourselves.
