Devotional
FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT – FRIDAY December 26, 2025
READ Luke 2:1–21
Luke tells the story of Jesus’ birth.
REFLECT
The salvation offered in Jesus is only available to us if he actually lived and died and rose again in history. The details of Jesus’ birth are clearly located in a specific time and place, and also in an identifiable political situation (Roman taxation) and cultural world. This is not “once upon a time, but this time and this place witnessed by these people.”
PRAY
Pray with thanks for Jesus, that he is a real person—the Messiah—in history, that he is not a made up myth or a character in a story. Thank God that he came into this world as a baby with a real body, experienced life, and suffered just as we do. Thank him that we can come to him with all our tears and joys, and he knows them all.
